Our trip to Christchurch Cathedral
On Thursday the 27th
of September the pupils of 5th
and 6th classes at St Saviour’s
School travelled to Dublin by bus
to attend the Diocesan Schools’ Service to mark the beginning of a new school
year.
Rev. Mark Bunting
gave the sermon about using a one cent coin to help us to pray. It reminds us
to concentrate, to pray for our country and for other countries in Europe. It
also reminds us of all those who have very little. Some of the hymns sung were
‘Father I Place into your hands’ and ‘You Shall Go Out With Joy’. The
collection was in aid of the Laura Lynn Childrens’ hospice and Christchurch Cathedral. The pupils of St. Andrew’s N.S. Lucan sang a hymn in Irish, and the
pupils of Kildare Place N. S. Rathmines mimed the actions to another hymn. The Archbishop of Dublin and Glendalough the
Most Reverend Michael Jackson led the service. I think it is safe to say that
everyone left the cathedral with happy faces.
