4th, 5th and 6th classes wrote some short stories about 'The Witch'. Here is a selection of some of them.

The Witch

One cold chilly Halloween Night. In a dark cave a witch lived around, roaming flying high in the cold sky. She was cackling to herself. Her hair was knotted, swirled twirled. It was black with a white strip down it. Her robe was dark black and had many bugs and small holes in it. There was a piece of rope tied around her hips because it was too long. The robe was 500 years old, that’s why it is so smelly.  It’s been passed down for many generations. Her face was hideous, I could not stand to look at it. I got quick glimpse if you want to know. Ok, I will tell you. She was very stooped as well. Her face is light green. It looks like you are going to vomit. Her nose was so long it would poke you in the eye. She had a big wart on her nose. She only had five yellow disgusting teeth the rest fell out. She had two pairs of shoes now only one the others were eaten by her pet rat rubble. The ones she had were long and black and very worn.

The Witch

Legend has it, that on Halloween night all the witches have a bonfire and dance around a cauldron. Each witch is just as disgusting as the last. Matted grey hair, big sharp noses, fat warts, with hair coming out of them, rugged dresses and cloaks and broom sticks and black cats. They have long sharp nails full of dirt and who knows what else. Sharp toenails that stick up through shoes and they sing and dance all night around their steaming cauldrons. They have a special recipe for that particular night that they sing “A sprinkle of this, a tinkle of that, I think I’ll put in a big fat rat! A strand of red hair, some puss from my nose, what about a snot from it too. An eyeball a finger, a tonsil an eyelash, a dash of brains, a splash of blood”  Then they would cackle all night long. Their party hats and black cloaks look like silhouettes in the light of the bonfire. When they cackle you can see all of their yellow and black teeth and can smell their horrible  killing breath.  In the morning all you can see are ambers of the bonfire.

The Witch

One windy night in a clearing, in the deepest darkest part of the woods Smugglewart Mc Witchypot the 3rd, was stirring a fowl smelling potion in her cauldron, to make her beautiful. You see Smugglewart was not the most beautiful being in the world well actually she looked horrid. She had grey and black knotty hair with rats tails at the ends because her hair had never been cut or brushed before she also had a few bald patches. Her face was not at all charming either. There was warts all over her face, chin and head her eyes were a grey black colour and her skin was,  well obviously green as most witches are famous for. Her teeth were either yellow, brown or gone. Her lips were dry or cracked, and of course, yep you guessed it she had a big, huge long pointy nose, with warts all over it!

Her clothes were ripped and ragged with holes and little bits of well everything all over them. She wore a black dress, a big pair of blocky leather boots, and yep you guessed it again a long pointy black hat. And now you know she was sooo ugly, and you wouldn’t be surprised to know everyone said that a pig was more beautiful then Smugglewart Mc Witchypot the 3rd.

The Witch

She flies in the moonlight of a silver moon heading to the old haunted mansion. It’s the witch of the silver moon, Maggy! Maggy is an old witch who has grey, notty long, scraggily hair. Her hair smells like old monster socks “Stinky”. Her face is a dark bumpy green face. Her teeth are yellow and brown and her nose covered in huge green warts. Her eyes are an evil glowing red in colour. Maggy’s long black raggedly 40 year old dress goes down to her hairy green knees!! Her long brown cloak is smelly and has ugly patches on it. She has huge black smelly shoes with ugly brown socks too. Maggy’s hands are green and warty and very dirty because she never washes her hands!!! She has a black wicked cat, a big black cauldron and a long broom stick. Her dull black pointy hat sticks up from her head.

The Witch

Once upon a time on the top of the hill lived an old cranky witch. She was plumb and short with a long neck about half a metre long. Her name was Nanny Lumpalula. Her face was long and she had a big double chin, her face was covered in wrinkles and warts.

The warts were filled with pumpkin snot. Her lips were thin and crispy and her face was pale. Her eyes were grey and she had picked her eyelashes out with a nail clippers. Her skin was blotchy and had little pin pimples all over it. Her hair was short and grey and greasy. She wears a black dress and pink high boots. Her favourite thing to do was dance in the moonlight at midnight.

The Witch

My witch is called Bridget. She has long black hair with snakes in it. She’s wearing a black hat to keep the snakes in it. She has a torn black clock. Her face is full of warts and has a nose like a pig. She is sly, nasty and ill mannered. She is wearing boots to small for her (she stole them off a child)

In her spare time, she brews potions and feeds the snakes in her hair.

October 2014

Science
The senior room learned about magnets, electricity and alternative forms of energy in September and October. As part of this the children worked in groups to construct a magnet powered boat. On the last day of half term 4th, 5th & 6th class went to the park and timed our magnet powered boats racing down a section of the river in the park. It was a very close competition but Zoe, Jazmine and Lauren's pretty boat stole the race in a time of 10.2 seconds. Well done girls!

Halloween Arts & Crafts
We had great fun constructing our wonderful witches.

Halloween Parade
We had great fun dressing up for Halloween !

A Dragons Tale

Once there was a dragon and a troll. The troll was spotted lifting heavy boulders by the king and solders .The king offered him a place in the army the troll accepted the offer.

The dragon however lived in a huge castle in the clouds. The reason he hides his castle in the clouds is because he was guarding a magic box which gave dragons the ability to fly and breathe fire. The magic box has been passed down by thousands of generations. Everyone did not like the dragon. One day the king ordered his soldiers to slay the dragon and bring back the magic box. The king wanted to know what it did. But the dragon has very tuff skin so ordinary spear could get through his skin. Only a special type of bow could get through the tough skin of the dragon.

When the troll heard he was getting a magic box he wanted to keep it for himself and bring it back to his cave. So when the day came and all of the soldiers including the troll were lined up for the battle the king gave the signal and they were off. They didn’t know where the castle was so it took them a few hours to find it.

When they found the castle the dragon was already there because he had amazing eye sight so he could see them for miles. He set off a big storm of fire. All the planes dropped out of the sky like fly’s. But the troll was clever enough to use the emergency exit and parachute onto the castle floor. The troll was the one who had the special type of bow and arrow and hit the dragon but the dragon pulled the arrow out and chased the troll when he was not looking ahead the dragon chased him off the castle and the troll fell. The dragon put a bandage on his wound and lived happy for the rest of his life.

Trip to Christ Church 2015

On Thursday 9th October 5th & 6th class went to Christchurch at 9.15 we left by bus. A few parents came with us, Karen and Mairead. Reverent Brian came too and Mrs. Lawson. When we arrived in Dublin, we had a 10minute stop at a park. Then we walked to Christ Church. When we got there it was about 10.15.

Rev. Niall Sloane welcomed us especially the children who had never been there before. There were about 300 – 400 people there.

All around us, wherever we looked there was the most beautiful architecture, the floors were tiled with lovely terracotta in the different designs. There different schools did a drumming performance, it was fantastic, really Brilliant. I loved it! When Rev. Nigel Mackey said he loved it too. After he chose four boys and got four chairs since the theme was Friendship, he was going to demonstrate a trusting game. All boys had to sit in different directions on the choirs. Then they had to lie on each others laps. One by one, the chairs were taken away. We had a few hymns and then we left Christchurch.

After the service we walked to Eddie Rockets, the adults sat at one table the boys at another and all the girls were together. The food was delicious! Afterwards we all got gifts.

When we came out we walked to Dublin Castle into the type of garden which had a maze. We stayed there for 15 – 20 minutes. After that we got back to the bus and went to the Terracotta Warriors. When we got there, we watched a video about how they were made. Then we went to look at the exhibits, there were models and cases with tools, arrow heads, and coins from ancient China.

We all took turns in reading what it said beside each display case. There were pots, mini spears and arrow heads, swords and jade. There were a few real warriors but the rest were replicas which we were able to touch. The only warriors we saw were cavalry, archers, foot soldiers and Charioteers.

We all enjoyed our day out. We got back to school around 6 o’clock, tired but happy after our day.

Old People We Know

A My Grandfather

By Harry

My Granddad is, about 76 years of age, I think. He is a nice man, but if you make a point and its incorrect, he will give you a lecture on it. At his tallest he was probably about 6ft 2in but now, as people do, he has shrank to about 6ft. He used to be a mechanic so now he has a sore back most of the time and that makes him walk a bit slower than normal. His hair is mostly grey and he has gone a little thin on the top. His face is only a bit wrinkly. He is mostly up to date with technology as he has a 42 inch flat-screen tv with sky. My granddad is perfectly healthy and fairly active. My granddad is a nice, kind man, and I love him.

Grandma
By Óisin
I have a grandma that is 85 years old the same age of the queen of England. She lives inn Liverpool. She lives in a little apartment. When I go to visit her she always make me or the family a cup of tea. So when you offer to make her a cup of tea she sometimes says no. But when you drink the cup of tea she would ask you again because sometimes she forgets. When we all sit down or walk down the park or to the restaurant etc. she will always talk about her childhood. When you walk down the shops just for looking she can be really slow at walking so sometimes we have to give her a rest she is one of the funniest people I have even listened to. Even though she is 85 she can still drive around really well. She really likes her cakes and ice cream somehow but when it’s really quiet she will watch TV or look out the window because there are usually squirrels. She sometimes knit but very rarely…

My Grandad
My Grandad’s name is Harry [Real name Harold] His face is small with bushy eyebrows and his head is bald with only two patches of grey crazy hair. And he likes to wear fluffy hats. He is always grinning except for when he is sick, and he is not very sick very often. He has sparkling blue eyes that always make you want to smile. His skin is quite wrinkly but not pale. He wears long socks and long warm jumpers because he is a farmer. He always has a stick with him. He is always joking and laughing and tickling. He loves to watch tennis. He is really special to me because he loves me. How I know he loves me is because he is always giving me hugs and buying stuff for me and worrying about me. He always has to get up early because he has to feed the cows and sheep.

  My Granddad
My dad’s dad is sixty four I think. He loves to spoil us rotten and pays for my piano lessons. Johnathan Wheeler but I call him Don Don because when I was little I couldn’t say his name. He smokes herbs and smells of them too. He loves to come and watch us singing and loves the way I have started to play piano because when he was younger he played too. He bought me a really expensive piano I love it. When he mows the lawn we love to go to his house and ask him to chase us on the ride on lawn mower. He loves animals and owns the farm. He also loves to watch cricket on the television and drink hot chocolate because he has never been a fan of tea.
He has bright blue eyes that glitter when he is excited he has red/brown/tanned skin and freckles on his hands.  When he walks he stands up straight and can walk fast when he wants to. He is fit and sometimes comes up the mountain with us. He is bald at the top but has hair at the sides. He is special to me because he is my only granddad left apart from my great granddad who is his dad and very old. His laugh makes me feel safe. He always listens to what I have to say. Sometimes I don’t get to see him because he has a house in Croatia and goes there for a week or two.We went there once and he says he will bring me there sometime. I love him so much and he loves me.

My Granny is very neat and tidy and likes everything clean. She likes tea while doing the Irish Times Crosswords. She is very good at Crosswords. She has a lot of difficulties with gadgets.                                                        MY GRANNY!!!
My granny was 92 when she died but when she was alive she would bring eimhin and I up to Dublin for a day out. She could not drive so she would bring us on the bus. She was a thin woman with really wrinkly skin and her hands felt like they were soft but you knew they had been through a lot. She wore rollers in her hair before going to bed so she had white ringlets which always looked perfect and shiny. She had blue eyes. She was quite small and her nose was just the right size and her ears were just the right size too. She wore dentures because she had no teeth left. She only wore skirts and cardigans she would never dream of wearing trousers.my granny was a kind and loving woman she never would ever think of swearing she was always quite horrified when any one would swear.my favourite thing about my granny was her fantastic ice cream float which were really delicious. Another thing I remember was she always had a hanky up her sleeve. She didn’t really know much about phones or gadgets but she was interested in all the new things when she was growing up they didn’t have any of the gadgets. I love my granny and I will always remember the special times we had together.

My Granny
My granny had curly white hair, and pretty grey – blue eyes. She was small and stooped, and if she was still alive, I would probably be taller than her. She did not have dentures or a walking stick, but she still had her own teeth. She loved to cook and grow flowers and vegetables. She grew some fruit, but not a lot.  She was a good cook, so good that she might have won Masterchef Ireland. She loved to read about cooking and gardening as well. She had piles and piles of magazines about cooking and gardening. She wore long skirts and skin tights, and also t – shirts with buttons on them, covering her arms were thin jumpers that she wore un – buttoned. She used to have a white cat called Buttons. Buttons died before I was born, but I heard he was very loving if a bit deaf, like most white cats are. Buttons always used to sleep on my granny’s lap. My granny called her cat Buttons because she loves buttons. She loved to sew and embroider pillows and things like that. I used to play games with my granny, such as Hair Salon. I think that the most special thing about my granny was she was always there for me. She was always the person that I could go to when I was sad or upset. I love my granny so much.

My Great Aunt Nancy
My Great Aunt Nancy has a very slim face with some wrinkles though I am not sure if she has dentures. Her hair is a browny golden type that is very straight and sits on her head. She is very slim but finds it difficult to go down the stairs at times but otherwise walks very smoothly. Her eyes are a light green colour that give a great twinkle when she smiles.
She has a great sense of humour and loves to make jokes. Every time I see her sitting on the couch she is either making a joke or reading the newspaper. She is very kind to me and always chatting about life. But at times when she is chatting she says something I have no idea what she is talking about but I just pretend I do anyway.
She has a very good taste in clothing and is very stylish, she has lovely coats and dresses which are very in fashion. We get along great and we love looking out for deer and other wildlife which she has not yet seen and that I have. My Great Aunt Nancy is very special to me because she is my only living relative who is in her late stages and also that we get along so great.

My Great Granny
My granny is ninety-two years old. She has light brown blotched skin. Her eyes have bags under them. She has no dentures and has her own teeth. She is not stooped but uses a walking stick. Her hair is black with grey in it.
She likes to knit while drinking tea and watching television. When we visit her she loves to show us how to knit and show us how to make collages with old paper. When you sit on her favourite chair she hits you with her walking stick or gets angry with you. She lives in an old age home. It has lots of things she likes. She loves bingo and swimming. When she has visitors she makes a lot of jokes and tells funny stories.
When she goes on a walk she loves to come home and have a cup of tea. When we have parties for her we do what she likes. We have chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream and coffee cake with grapes and water melon, sweet melon, apples and bananas.
I love her because she’s kind and smart and fun to be with. She loves to play board games with us and to swim in the sea and collect shells on the beach. She also loves to have ice – cream with us.
We love to play and laugh together. Even though she has trouble with gadgets and things she’s a pretty cool Great Granny and I love her a lot.

My Great Granny
My Great –Granny had bright, shiny chocolate eyes. She had silver, grey hair and a wrinkled face. Since there are 14 children including my siblings and cousins, she always got our names wrong.  Her eyes glittered at birthdays and Christmas. She had broken veins on her hands. She was stooped and had a walking stick. She shuffled around the place and loved going for walks with her own children. She was always kind to us and loved to hear what was going on in our lives. She always had bags under her eyes from tiredness but that never mattered to any of us, for she was always happy and cheerful. She loved hearing about my parents and Naoise, Anna and I because we live here in Ireland. She also liked to hear about my cousins who live in the west of France because she and the rest of the family live in the North of France. But I’m sad to say I didn’t spend enough time with her. Our last summer was in 2013! But I’m glad that I’m able to describe the best of her and she was sooo special to me because she is a one of a kind great-grandmother and now I realise how much she is special to me and how much she means to me.
