Christmas Pantomime

Our Visit to the Pantomime
By Sadhbh-Aine Galvin

On the 12th December we went to Dublin on the bus. The whole school went to the pantomime to watch Cinderella and it was really good. My favourite character was Buttons. He was one of the main characters in the play. They sang “gang nam” style when the ugly sisters entered the stage. Buttons would say “ a hear” and then we would say “leave it out”. There were two acts and one interval. We sat up on the balcony and I sat in the front row. We all joined in with the singing. The ugly sisters were dressed in crazy clothes. They were both men but they were pretending to be women.
After the pantomime, we went back on the bus and we went to McDonalds. We all got happy meals, drinks, toys and ice cream. Then we got on the bus and went back to school. We arrived at school at 4.15p.m.. I really enjoyed my day and look forward to our next trip.

The Annual Carol Service 2012

The Annual Carol Service 2012

Our annual Carol Service was held in St. Saviour’s Church on Sunday 16th December. The children sang beautifully and it was a very moving service. The whole school sang “Come and Join the Celebrations”. The Infants sang “The Rock your Carol”. Second to sixth classes played several tunes on their recorders. The “piece de resistance” however was the singing of “Dona Nobis” and “The Angels Song”. This was a historic occasion as it was the first time The Angels Song was sung in a Church in Ireland. The seniors performed a modern version of the Nativity and at the end the whole school was gathered to sing the final carols.

Tree Week

Everyone enjoyed Tree Week. The children learned how to identify trees in their classrooms and they did art on trees too. Then at the end of the week they had a tree trail  in the school grounds.
