Geography & Science
Rocks & Minerals:
Fifth & Sixth classes have had lots of fun learning about rocks and how they were formed.Their favourite type of rock is sedimentary because of the wonderful fossils which can be found in limestone . We had a number of fossils on display in the classroom.
We enjoyed learning about minerals and had some excellent quartz samples on display particularly hazel's piece of Amethyst as well as a variety of books & posters.
Each pupil did a mini -project about rocks & minerals & these are on display in the classroom.

History
World War 1
For the past few weeks fifth & sixth classes have been learning about World War 1 . We learnt a little about the political situation in Europe which led to the war and about the social conditions which led so many young men from Ireland & Britain to join the army.  We were appalled to learn about conditions in the trenches & about how many young men died in such awful conditions. Soon we will be learning about a past pupil of St. Saviour's  N. S. and  why there is a memorial to him in St. Saviour's Church.!!

Junior Achievement
Last week was the first of our visits from Paul Mc Grath, from Junior Achievement, to the senior room . Our lesson was all about business and trade. We learnt about free enterprise and the things an entrepreneur has to keep in mind when starting a business. We were divided into groups and each group had to invent a new product  ,think of a name for it, and think of a slogan to market it. Then we had to present our ideas to the class.  It was great fun .
